📖 ANCHEE AC808 PCR PASSENGER TYRES — COMPLETE NZ GUIDE

The AC808 is a PCR (Passenger Car Radial) tyre — the standard construction for modern passenger vehicles. PCR tyres feature radial ply construction where the cord plies run perpendicular to the direction of travel, providing better fuel efficiency, longer tread life, and improved handling compared to older bias-ply designs.

Whether you're commuting in a Toyota Corolla, doing school runs in a Mazda 3, or road-tripping in a Honda Civic — this guide covers everything you need to know about NZ's best-value touring tyre.

💡 What does UTQG 420 A A mean? UTQG (Uniform Tire Quality Grade) is a US government rating system. A treadwear of 420 means the tyre should last 4.2× longer than the reference tyre. The dual "A" ratings for traction and temperature are the highest grades possible — indicating excellent wet stopping power and heat resistance. Learn more about tyre grades →

❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

PCR stands for Passenger Car Radial. It refers to the radial construction method where the internal cord plies run perpendicular (at 90°) to the direction of travel, with steel belts under the tread. This is the standard construction for virtually all modern passenger car tyres — from budget to premium brands. The alternative (bias-ply) is now mainly used for vintage cars, trailers, and some agricultural equipment.
With a UTQG treadwear rating of 420, the AC808 typically lasts 50,000-70,000km for normal commuting. Several customers have reported exceeding 70,000km. Actual life depends on driving style, wheel alignment, tyre pressure maintenance, and road conditions. Regular rotation every 10,000km helps maximise tread life.
Excellent. The AC808 has a UTQG Traction rating of "A" (the highest possible) and an EU Wet Grip rating of B (70). This puts it in the same wet performance category as many premium touring tyres. The symmetrical tread pattern with four wide circumferential grooves channels water efficiently to reduce aquaplaning risk.
Most Toyota Corollas use 195/65R15 or 205/55R16. The exact size depends on your model year and trim level. The easiest way to check is the sticker on your driver's door jamb, or look at your current tyres. We stock both popular Corolla sizes.
The AC808 is designed for sealed roads. Occasional gravel is fine, but regular gravel driving will accelerate tread wear and could cause chipping. If you regularly drive on unsealed surfaces, the AC858 All-Terrain is a better choice.
Yes — we offer fitting at our Te Puke workshop (31 Station Road, Bay of Plenty). We also deliver nationwide with free North Island shipping, so you can have them fitted at your local tyre shop. Many customers buy online and take them to their preferred fitter.
5-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. As the exclusive NZ importer for Anchee, warranty claims are handled directly through us — not through an overseas distributor.
