What the Hilo X-Terrain MT1 is built to do

Made for the part of the trip where a highway tread runs out of answers.

Large gaps between the tread blocks give mud and loose soil somewhere to go instead of packing the pattern solid. That helps the tyre keep finding a fresh edge as it turns.

The casing choices matter as much as the tread. The two 15-inch flotation sizes are 6 ply; the metric 16- and 17-inch sizes are 10 ply. Match the load index to the vehicle placard and the work the vehicle actually does.

This is a symmetric, non-directional pattern, so it can be fitted on either side of the vehicle and rotated between corners where size and vehicle setup allow.

Five sizes are currently listed. The load index—not the ply wording alone—is what must meet the vehicle's requirement.

Q is the speed rating shown on all five listings. Mud tyres are not EU-label or UTQG products; choose them by size, load, terrain and expected road use.

How the Hilo X-Terrain MT1 works

• High void ratio: the spaces between blocks help clear mud, dirt and loose gravel.
• Working shoulder: tread continues onto the shoulder for traction in ruts and extra protection.
• Cut-resistant compound: the listed construction is intended for unsealed and gravel-road use.
• Symmetric tread: straightforward fitment and rotation where the vehicle uses the same size front and rear.

Where it fits in the Hilo range

Choose the MT1 when mud traction is the priority and accept the extra noise and movement that come with an open tread. For mixed sealed-road and off-road driving, the Hilo X-Terrain XT1 all-terrain is the calmer option. For an SUV that stays on the road, use the Sport XV1.
