What the Grand Tourer H/T is built to do
Carry an SUV quietly and economically down the highway, and keep it sure footed in the wet.
The Grand Tourer H/T is built for the SUV that does its kilometres on the seal. Four wide grooves and open transverse channels move water out from under the tyre for traction and braking in the wet, a wide tread keeps plenty of rubber on the road, variable pitch blocks keep the cabin quiet, and a sidewall protection layer stands up to punctures and impact damage. Every size is graded 440 A A, and it comes in 215/60R17 96H, 225/55R18 98V and 265/60R18 110H.

How the Grand Tourer H/T works
Every part of the Grand Tourer H/T has a job to do. Here is what each one does for you on the highway.
Four grooves for the wet
Four wide grooves run right around the Grand Tourer H/T, and open transverse channels sweep out from them to the shoulders. Together they give water a fast way out from under the tread, so the rubber stays pressed onto the road instead of riding up on a film of water. That is where the grip and the braking on a wet highway come from, at the speeds an SUV actually travels.
Quiet in the cabin
Tyre noise comes from the tread blocks meeting the road thousands of times a minute. Joyroad varies the length of the Grand Tourer H/T's blocks, so the sound each one makes lands at a different pitch and never builds into one drone. On the current EU registry it measures 71 to 72 decibels outside the car. The result is a quiet, settled cabin on a long highway run.
Easy rolling, fuel saved
On the current EU registry the Grand Tourer H/T is graded B for fuel efficiency, on a scale from A to E. That grade measures rolling resistance: the less energy a tyre soaks up as it rolls, the less fuel the engine burns to push it, on every trip. For an SUV that covers big kilometres on the open road, that saving adds up over the life of the set.
Tread that lasts
Every Grand Tourer H/T size is graded 440 for treadwear, against a median of 400 for the tyres we inspect in our workshop, and Joyroad's catalogue gives it 7.7 mm of tread when new. A wide tread with a high groove to sipe ratio spreads the load across plenty of rubber. Keep the pressures right and rotate the set, and that grade turns into more kilometres between sets.
How the Grand Tourer H/T is graded
Every one of the three Grand Tourer H/T sizes carries the same UTQG grade: 440 for treadwear, A for traction and A for temperature. A is the highest temperature grade there is, and the median treadwear for all the tyres that come through our workshop is 400, so at 440 the Grand Tourer H/T is built to outlast it. On the current EU registry it is graded B for fuel efficiency and C for wet grip, and measures 71 to 72 decibels. Joyroad's catalogue gives it 7.7 mm of tread when new, which leaves 6.2 mm to use before the 1.5 mm legal minimum in our WOF tyre guide.
